ABOUT OUR COMPANY

The Clapsaddle, Whitney, Parker, Richards Farm is located on 90 beautiful acres in historic Ilion, N.Y. Come and visit the farm to see it's historic buildings, meet the animals, and enjoy local produce.

The Past

Before becoming the CWPR Farm, Clapsaddle Farm and Cider Mill was owned by Jim Parker's family for nearly 280 years. The farm was purchased in 1737 by the Parker's and was originally called Klepsettle Farms and was a lumber and sheep farm. In 1783 the farmhouse was built by William Klepsettle, a relative on Mrs. Parker on his mother's side.
In the mid 1800's the farm was internationally known for Holstein breeding and a world famous bull was born at the farm. The bull would go onto sire Holsteins in Argentina and win an  international award for producing cows with the highest milk fat content.
In 1892 the ownership of the farm transferred to H.R. Whitney after a death in the Klepsettle family. Whitney brought his son, Frank, to run the farm. A short time later Gertrude Klepsettle married Frank, bringing the farm back into the Klepsettle family.
Clapsaddle Farm again left the Parker family for a short time in the 1980's, until Parker purchased it in 1983. As Parker's father carried on the tradition of making cider and vinegar, Parker planted an apple orchard  of 700 trees. The Parker family remained on the farm, creating traditions and fun for all who visited until 2017, when Bill Richards purchased the farm from the family.

The Present

In 2017 the Richards Family bought the Parker Farm and renamed the farm Clapsaddle, Whitney, Parker, Richards Farm. The Richard's are working hard to maintain the traditions that the farm has always had, while expanding to include recreational activities for the entire family.

When you visit the farm you will find the Parker's Cider Mill, hiking trails that lead to Clapsaddle Falls, tent and RV sites, a pumpkin patch, miniature golf, animals and so much more!

The Future

â€‹The CWPR Farm looks forward to a bright future with new innovative changes and features that everyone will enjoy.

Currently the CWPR is working towards rejuvenating the 25 acre apple orchard that the deer have decimated in the past years. The Farm is also hoping to house a microbrewery, long term camping sites as well as 4-wheeling and snowmobile trails.
